WHO GOVERNS NEW JERSEY??

From the onset, let me say that I am NO legal scholar, but when I see what is going on in New Jersey, I have to scratch my head.
In a 3-4 decision, the New Jersey Supreme Court has ordered the New Jersey Legislature to enact a law that would put civil unions (homosexual) on the same level as marriage.
Anyone that has followed the civil union/marriage debates knows that in 13 states where this has appeared on a ballot, it has been defeated soundly by huge margins.
Is the New Jersey Supreme Court telling the legislature to enact a law that the "people" don't want? In what kind of democratic republic do judges have that power??
Civics 101 drilled in my head that the courts interpret laws, laws that are enacted by ELECTED officials in the Legislatures.
Someone in New Jersey needs to dust-off the books on judicial impeachment.

A NEW DIRECTION??

"A New Direction For America -- Vote DEMOCRATIC!" Is the new Democrat slogan. Let's analyze this empty and misleading promise.

The stock market is at a new all-time high and America's 401K's are back. A new direction from there means what?

Unemployment is at 25 year lows. A new direction from there means what?

Oil prices are plummeting. A new direction from there means what?

Taxes are at 20 year lows. A new direction from there means what?

Federal tax revenues are at all-time highs. A new direction from there means what?

The Federal deficit is down almost 50%, just as predicted over last year. A new direction from there means what?

Home valuations are up 200% over the past 3.5 years. A new direction means what?

Inflation is in check, hovering at 20 year lows. A new direction from there means what?

Not a single terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11/01. A new direction from there means what?

Several major terrorist attacks already thwarted by US and British Intel, including the recent planned attack involving 10 airliners being exploded over major US cities in order to celebrate the anniversary of the 9/11/01 attacks. A new direction from there means what?

Think about this "new direction" when voting on Nov. 7

Yeah, sure Nancy....................

In case you haven’t been paying attention, possible Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi stated that one of her main goals if the Democrats gain control of the House is to roll-back the tax cuts enacted by the present administration.
For those that enjoy and engage in class warfare (tax cuts for the rich), those words are sweet music, but upon further review, I think that Ms. Pelosi is quite full of it.
Let me tell you why and also let me share with you Washington’s dirty little secret.
While Washington keeps spending money at record pace, the budget deficit just fell to $260 billion. HUH?
The budget expanded by $2.7 trillion last year, which is a 9% increase, and according to White House Budget Director, Rob Portman the main factor in the deficit decline is the tsunami of tax revenue.
Hang with me. In the last 2 years, tax collections increased by $521 billion. The largest increase in history for a 2 year period. Well, where did this windfall come from?

“One place it has come from are corporations, whose tax collections have climbed by 76% over the past two years thanks to greater profitability. Personal income tax payments are up by 30.3% since 2004 too, despite the fact that the highest tax rate is down to 35% from 39.6%. The IRS tax-return data just released last month indicates that a near-record 37% of those income tax payments are received from the top 1% of earners -- "the rich," who are derided regularly in Washington for not paying their "fair share."” WSJ

And that my friends, is the news that no one outside of Washington DC is allowed to hear.
So, Ms. Pelosi, do you really want to turn off that cash spigot?

Fed Chief Bernanke & Social Security Reform

Unless Social Security and Medicare are revamped, the massive burden from retiring baby boomers will place major strains on the nation’s budget and the economy, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said Wednesday.
“Reform of our unsustainable entitlement programs” should be a priority, he said in prepared remarks to the Economics Club of Washington. “The imperative to undertake reform earlier rather than later is great,” Bernanke added.
As the population ages, the nation will have to choose among higher taxes, less non-entitlement spending by the government, a reduction in spending on entitlement programs, a sharply higher budget deficit or some combination thereof, Bernanke said.

I wonder if anyone at the White House and the Halls of Congress is hearing this?

Why I wouldn't be too upset if Democrats took the House

I'm amazed that I would even feel that way, but after seeing the lack of leadership, initiative, and indifference towards the American public, I hope this Republican Congress gets bounced. They deserve it.
For the past 8 years, this Congress hasn't had a conservative thought rattle inside their heads. Instead of taking the initiative with conservative legislation, or at least putting forth an agenda, these clowns have done nothing but pander to the Democrats and shake in their boots at the sign of any minute controversy. Do these guys know how to lead? Apparently not.
Is it all Congress's fault? Not really.
For the last 8 years we've had a President that has totally squandered the beautiful opportunity to set a conservative tone throughout this country. This president was handed a Republican controlled Senate and Congress that would have supported a conservative agenda had the President shown some courage and leadership skills. This President was handed a Democratic party in disarray. A Democratic party that is morally, and philosophically bankrupt. A Democratic party that is run by the fringe left. A Democratic party that would have imploded with just a wee bit of effort, creativity, and some leadership.
Of course I'm not suggesting that the President should have gone hardcore conservative, but on issues that the American public understands like education reform, energy exploration, illegal immigration, Social Security reform, and federal spending, he has been AWOL. These aren't complicated issues. They are bread and butter issues that are regularly discussed at every dinner table in most American homes.
So, come November, will I be disgusted at the sight of Pelosi, Reid, Schumer, Kennedy, Clinton, Durbin and Rangle wildly celebrating their victory? No, because this President and this Republican party deserve it.
